There’s some good news for all you flea lovers out there – the Bay Area has a new flea market! The West End Flea Market (renamed the Alameda Outdoor Market) is now in the charming island town of Alameda at the College of Alameda. It held its Grand Opening on March 25th, 2012. The 230-space market will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be on Alameda’s “West End” hence it’s name. Check out their website to sign up as a vendor. The West End Flea Market will be held every Sunday, rain or shine. We wish them very well!
We can’t think of a lovelier way to spend some time on a Sunday in the East Bay, so we hope you will check them out. It truly is amazing what you can pick up at your favorite flea market. My cousin, Lauren posted about this in her guest blog post about a market on the East Coast where she picked up an old wooden chair, painted it red and then put chalk board ink on the desk surface and wrote out “Thrift Store Junkies.” That image now adorns our twitter profile. Visiting a flea market can really get your creative juices flowing, especially when you see all the great upcycling that people are doing with their found objects.
Alameda is already home to the infamous Alameda Flea Market that takes place on the 1st Sunday of each month. And, now with the West End Flea Market open you have two reasons to make a trek to the Island. Just be sure to drive 25 on the Island! And, happy flea marketing! Hope you find lots of fun treasures!
