It’s finally happened: I’ve opened an Etsy store! I’ve called it Faith and Mercy, named after two of my Welsh ancestors who were lacemakers and upholsterers – true “makers” of the 19th Century who were named Faith and Mercy Markwick. I’m offering items from my previous life as the owner of a vintage Bridal boutique, which are all looking for new homes, as well as other seasonal and unique, vintage items that I find in my thrifting travels.
A little background: I decided to open a vintage bridal boutique in San Diego after I got engaged and began shopping for a wedding dress. The only dresses I was trying on seemed like big marshmallow puffs to me and I wanted something more simple and elegant. I happened into the Salvation Army store in downtown San Diego and came upon a rack of gorgeous wedding dresses from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s. I ended up purchasing a white velvet 1960’s dress which ended up being my bridal gown. After hearing from other people that they desired something similar, I decided to open up a little store in San Diego’s Mission Hills neighborhood. I still have inventory from that store which I am now offering so that others can enjoy them.
Here’s a sneak peek of one of the items I’m offering…
I’d love it if you could stop by and let me know what you think of the items I’m offering and the overall feel of the store. I’d really appreciate your feedback! I’ve put a link on my home page and also here…
