San Leandro
I first discovered San Leandro thrift stores back in 1997 when I lived in the City.  Brenda and I would pile into her convertible donning vintage scarves over our heads ala Audrey Hepburn and we’d scour the thrift store circuit here.  Our first stop was usually the Hospice Thrift Store which in its heyday was located on East 14th Street.  It has since relocated to a smaller space and has lost some of its earlier charm, but I still marvel at all of the vintage costume jewelry I found at that store for a song and still wear it proudly today…
