If you find yourself lucky enough to be strolling along St. Helena’s Main Street in between wine tastings or mud baths, do yourself a favor and drop into La Boheme. It’s a thrift store, but truly resembles more of an upscale consignment store or “charity store,” as they like to call them on the East Coast.
Once you walk through the front door, past their tastefully decorated window display, you’re sure to find a one-of-a-kind treasure. Just their location, alone, ensures that they are constantly receiving beautiful donations from many of the storied estates in the Napa Valley.
Recently, I happened in – not looking for anything in particular – and I stumbled upon a lamp that I could not walk away from. Did I need another lamp? No, but you know how it is. Sometimes, items just speak to you, and this one did.
Karen, the shopkeeper is a lovely person who you’ll also enjoy chatting with, as well. She has lots of stories to share about all of the amazing items they have. And, as the store motto promises, you’ll soon find yourself having… “A love affair with found treasures.”
